six months

Sweet Baby Lincoln. Time is just passing way too fast. I can't believe he's six months already! He is a little sweetheart (even though he wakes up 5 times a night...) He is so smiley when he wakes up from his naps or in the morning. And if he hears his brothers before he sees them he smiles and practically jumps out of my arms to get to them. He loves watching everything they do and say. His first tooth finally poked through today. And I love that he still has wispy baby hair. He is starting to sit up a lot- but still falls over so we keep him cushioned up. His favorite toys are kitchen utensils. We take a measuring cup everywhere we go, and spatulas are everywhere in our house. He giggles when I help him pet Miss Suki (our cat) and eventually he ends up grabbing a fist of her hair in his tight little grip. She keeps her distance from him for now. He loves to go to sleep at nap time and bedtime if I just put him in his crib- as long as he has his binky and blankie. He doesn't like having a binky while he's awake and he doesn't fall asleep in our arms ever- even if he's super tired. (Church!!) He loves to bounce up and down while we hold him and he is VERY active. Such a sweet baby boy!

This is Lincoln's signature smile. I have so many pictures of him with his little tongue out to the side. Plus everyone always remarks that he is getting so chubby. (Probably because he eats a few times per night.... I'm working on that!)

Dream Big Little Buddy

{Adam} -
He's just so darn.... determined. I wish I was better at knowing what I want. (And getting it!) Sometimes I think he's too cool for Harvest Hills, but that's what makes him so cool right?

I was looking up something to describe him and came across these definitions. I just had to laugh- they describe him perfectly.

determined:

Devoting full strength and concentrated attention to.

resolute:

firm in purpose or belief; characterized by firmness and determination; "stood resolute against the enemy";

Synonyms:

bent, bent on, dead set, out todesperate, do-or-diefirm, steadfast, steady, stiff, unbendable, unfaltering, unshakable, unwaveringfoursquarehell-bent (This one's my favorite.)single-minded, resolvedspartanstalwart, stoutundaunted, undismayed, unshakenundeterred, undiscouraged
Also See: brave#1, courageous#1; decisive#1; purposeful#1

Here are a couple of his favorite things this summer:
His '72 Moto Guzzi Ambassador.
And his '83 Plymouth Scamp. All his wishes and dreams were fulfilled when he bought this beauty. (Seriously- if I get any comments saying how "cute" or "cool" this car is- I will delete them. Just say it like it is: it's UGLY. That's what he loves about it anyway...)
Those seats are really comfy though. I want to bring them in for a chair in my house.
But I know where his heart really lies. The other day I overheard him talking to baby Lincoln and he said, "I would trade the scamp and the motorcycle just to have you." What a sweet daddy he is for 3 of the cutest boys.

P.S. The only thing Adam contributes to this blog {besides some handsome mugs) is the playlist. He just uploaded "Beautiful Boy" last night by his hero John Lennon. Check it out. I love that he loves his boys so much!

Dinner

Oh man- I love this post I stumbled upon! It makes me want to cook something so great tonight. Or not. But sit and eat as a family. (Could this be riding on my feelings of watching Julie and Julia last weekend?)

Vintage Stripes

This little shirt has made it through all three boys, which is kind of cool considering we bought it from a thrift store. I don't know why I love it so much- it's just perfect for baby boys.

Swiss Days

Swiss Days were a smash this year. The weather was nice and overcast- usually we sweat all day. Most of the family came. I didn't have buyers remorse, just bought a few earrings and a really cool necklace. And the boys were delighted with every single thing about the condo- Swimming! The River! Berries on the trees! Sleeping in our room! Walking Holly the dog! Playing with Grammy, Grandpa, Aunties and Uncles! (The list goes on.)
(Adam, Lincoln, Ollie, Tanner, Megs, Steve, Karen, Elliott, Christie & Scott)
The family after dinner one night. Oh the food in Midway! The yummy Mexican- (steak tacos) and authentic Italian pizza. I would drive up just to taste. The best thing is these restaurants are open year round, not just for the big event.
Ollie loved the laughs this brought out- and kept doing it.
The bugs on Grandpa's truck had the boys inspecting closely and every grownup was dragged by the hand to come and see. "Grandpa must have been driving crazy!!" they said.
And we had a little pre birthday ice cream cake for E while we were there. Yum. I love Swiss Days.

Party at 6

Elliott woke up to his room filled with balloons on his birthday. He brought them all downstairs and ate hootenannies for breakfast. He was so excited to take his class a special toy for his special day. But he was even more excited about his party later that day.

He wanted a Wolverine Party. Elliott is obsessed with his huge claws and has been for a while. (Watch for his obsession at Halloween....)
Taking it old school and playing musical chairs- well, musical Hullabaloo spots. The kids had fun with it.
E isn't a huge fan of cake, so we made a Wolverine ice cream cake. Cookie dough ice cream inside and colored cool whip on top. It was a hit.
Love the laid back style blowing the candles out. Actually- right after we lit them, a little boy at the party lost his tooth and we had to search for it in the carpet. So the candles melted to nothing and he had to blow them out before they were gone...
The party
I just love how the kids (esp. Ollie) are basically on top of him while he opened presents.
Wearing his Wolverine shirt and birthday sticker from school. He told me his teacher kept calling him "the birthday boy" and let him write an "M" on the chalkboard. He felt really special. We had dinner at Outback- per Elliott's request. He loves their mac and cheese. Fun day.

Oh yeah- we thought a mitt would be a good present for E since he loves baseball. He's really good at hitting and throwing. So the night before, I waited in the car while Adam got the mitt. He said he couldn't help buying the coolest (meaning most expensive) one in there! (I would have spent $10 if they had that option.) We were planning on something else, but decided that was enough.

Happy 6th Elliott!

Elliott turns 6 today! I love having him in our family. He's the perfect mix of sweet and tough little boy. His favorites right now are-
Going to kindergarten
Eating baked potatoes, mac and cheese and chicken pot pie.
Playing with Baby Lincoln. (He likes to play with Ollie too, but won't admit it.)
Playing with friends.
Drawing pictures and making cards for people.
Collecting things like rocks & jewels for his treasure box, coins, leaves, keys- and lots of other collections.
Colors- Silver, Black and Gold
Tricking us and making us laugh.
And riding his bike.
What he wants to do when he grows up: Be a robot tester, Study germs and rocks and drive a scoop.
Happy Birthday Bugs!
