Running for the view

I threw open my curtains on my sliding glass door a few mornings ago and this is what I saw:

I gasped and snapped pictures until it was gone. No one was up yet to share it with. I used to see these every morning when I was running or just getting back from a run, but since I haven't gone in a few months, I haven't seen them. It's almost worth it to go running for the view and some fresh air (amongst other benefits.) I can finally start going again next week (because of the 6 week "no strenuous exercise" rule after pregnancy) and I'm pretty excited. I get so ancy when I can't go. I even get jealous when I see the neighbors out on their runs or hear about my sister and friends going. Weird I know. But I have been running since I was 14- longer than I haven't been. It's just a part of my life now. And yes I still call it running even though I'm pretty slow at it. And even though I've been reminded over and over that there are better things to do for your body and to burn calories. I love it.

(If anyone wants to start up a SUPER slow running group in the mornings (as my last group had to disband due to moves and work schedules) let me know!

Paul The Fighter

Paul William McEntire
April 15, 2009- April 23, 2009

My sweet little nephew, Paul was here for just a short time but he touched so many lives! We were so sad to see him go. The only way to take comfort is knowing we will see him again and that Eric and Tagen can be with their little fighter again too. The love on earth grew so much this week. Many who knew baby Paul or read his story have hugged their kids a little tighter. Life is short and we need to not take advantage of it. Elliott said in his prayer last night (after the graveside service...) "Heavenly Father- please take care of baby Paul and please help Eric and Tagen to be happy. And we are so happy we get to see baby Paul again someday." It is such a valuable lesson to learn- although a hard one. Thank you baby Paul for being such a perfect little baby and teaching us so much about love. We love you! Until we meet again...

{The picture above is baby Paul looking so handsome in his cute little blessing suit right before a beautiful baby blessing by his Daddy- Eric.}

My, what big eyes you have...

Baby Lincoln loves to look at Adam's glasses. If he catches a glimpse of them, he leans back to get a better look and he'll stare for a while- it's so funny. Other favorite things to stare at are the ceiling fans, windows and our black bookshelves.

I love when Adam holds him- he looks like a little doll! I keep telling him to stay little for a while longer!!!

Love how Lincoln's baby toes are gripping Adam's huge pinky!!

Baby Paul

My brother, Eric and his wife Tagen had their baby boy, Paul William on April 15th. (Tagen was due the day after me.) He is currently in the NICU as his heart stopped when he was delivered by emergency c-section and it took 15 minutes to resuscitate him. I was able to visit him and he is such a handsome little boy! He has the cutest little lips and looks like a little muscle man (he was 10 lbs!) Go here to read his story and please keep them in your prayers!

Easter Festivities

We had a really fun Easter weekend. My niece, Elli got baptized on Saturday (even though I didn't get any pictures of cute Elli!!) so Linds had a little Easter Egg hunt after that- along with the best lunch ever!
Above- my boys with their finds and below, with Uncle Eric inspecting the candy.

The beginning of the hunt at Linds'- a little out of order.
Later that day- my parents had their annual egg hunt. The kids were sooo excited. They have to line up starting with the youngest, so Ollie got to go first since he was the youngest participating. The other boys just watched him go, and then they posed for the cameras- they were so funny. All the while Ollie is snagging everything close to him.

I LOVE this action shot. They were so fun to watch. They would shake every egg they picked up to see if it had change inside.

The cousins- Elli, Karissa, Stacey, her friend- China, Anikka, Trevan, Ryder, Bailey, Elliott, Ollie and Benny.
EASTER MORNING- all my boys, waiting for the hootenannies to start in the oven before they see what the bunny brought.
Elliott had to use his Halloween bucket. We had so many other cute baskets from years passed, but the 99 cent bucket won out with him.
Another action shot. Love it too... Elliott was such a good big brother through all of the hunts. He was always sure to point some out to Ollie or even drop a few in his bucket if Ollie was too slow. He was really so thoughtful.

Chocolatey
Baby Lincoln LOVED his basket if you can't tell. Thank goodness for some good friends giving me ideas. Elliott was quick to point out that the Easter Bunny must have borrowed our paper and our markers to write the notes...
Mmmmm- Lindt bunnies. Ollie's diet consisted of only candy for two days straight. I think it was only fair that while he wasn't watching I ate half of his bunny... did I say Mmmm? I LOVE chocolate! Oh yeah- after church on Sunday- Elliott was showing me that his teachers (they are sooo great by the way!) gave him a picture of Jesus at the 2nd coming and he said, "I'm glad I have this picture, so I can remember that Jesus came back to life- but it wasn't this year- it was last Easter, huh Mommy?"

Little Big Boy

It's funny how the second we brought the baby home, Oliver grew up into this giant kid. He is just so big now- doing lots of things on his own and kicking the nap habit (sad for me!) He still needs a nap everyday but only takes one about once a week and I love when he does.
He's just so long now. I guess that's the Swalberg genes coming through. He's losing his chubbiness- everywhere except for his cheeks! We even had to tighten his belt on his jeans the other day!
Here are some funny things Mister Oliver has said lately: (Some might be repeats from before, but I can't remember where I got to in my little quote book that I keep for each of my boys.)
*After every prayer that he actually folds his arms and closes his eyes, " See how pregnant I was being?" (reverent)
*Looking really close at my face one day, "Mommy- you look so sparkly today."
*While eating cotton candy, "Is this hair?"
*"What is this fer? Hey- fur- that's what Suki (our cat) has!"
*"Holy gutterball!" (We weren't bowling at the time and I've never heard anyone say it before...)
*Me- "What movie should we rent?" Ollie- "Not Darth Vader."
*On his way out to play he turned around and looked at me and said, "Mommy- I like you. And I like your feet, and your polish and your pretty shirt." And then continued out the door.
* Ollie always has to announce the prayer every time we say one like this: "I know what we forgot to say... the PRAYER!" (And he gets mad if you say the prayer, or talk about it before he's had a chance to announce.) And if you forget to say something about Ollie in our night prayers, we have to say it over.
*Me- "What do you see out the window?" Ollie- "There aren't skunks."
*Calls Lucky Charms "Chucky Charms" or "Sucky Charms."
*Me from the other room, "What are you doing Ollie?" O- "Not trying on Daddy's glasses!"
*Asked me at church when I was talking to some of the young women, "Are you going to play with your friends?"
*"Are you a cat Mom?"
*Are you Mom, Mommy?"
*Daddy likes to fix, and go to work and build our clubhouse."
*"Suki is wrestling with herself!"
*"After sitting for two hours at stake conference, "Is it really, actually over?"
*"Do snakes have bums?"
*From the tub- "Mommy! There are hairs in the tub! They're going to get me!!"
*"Elliott's building a mess Mama!"

He's such a little tease too. This is what happens when I try to take a picture these days...

Love my little big boy.

Easter Bunny

Does the Easter Bunny visit a two week old? And if so, what does he usually bring him??? (The never-ending milk supply is already covered.)

My friend Steph

I went to my friend- Steph's baby shower this weekend. She was in for a few days from Omaha, and it was SO much fun to see her and the other girls! We miss you Steph! Can't wait to see your baby girl- and hear what you name her! Yay for 10 pounders- although I'm guessing 7 lbs. ;)
Ange, Sini, Steph, Linds and Tam
Is she the cutest pregnant girl ever? She looked SO great! We laugh so much together.

Brothers

"We few, we happy few,
we band of brothers."

It will be so fun to see what kind of friends these guys will be.
I love them so much. My sweet boysies.

Fire Station Boys

Elliott's preschool class went on a fieldtrip to the fire station the other day. Adam's Mom took my boys for me since Lincoln had a doctor appointment. She took all these cute pics. Thanks again Karen!

Elliott with his little preschool friends.

This is what the boys told me about over and over when they got home. "The fire truck had huge wheels!" This was a dream visit for the boys and I'm so glad they both got to go!

Happy Birthday Mom!

Happy Birthday to my sweet Mama today! I barely made this post in time with such a crazy day including hospitals, a field trip, two grandma visits and a newborn photo shoot. Amidst all of this- my Mom turned 64! (64 must be the new 54...)
