sunday afternoon

So glad the relaxed pace of summer is slowly creeping into our busy lives.
Just three more days this week and then the boys are out!
They made their 'summer lists' yesterday- and we have lots to discover and do.
I was very thankful for this Sunday after church where we could just lounge and relax with the boys.
Seems like we haven't had one of those in a while.

Went back to (dark) blonde a few days ago!

We put nutella, strawberries and bananas on ours.

Ahhh- here's to a great week and summer!

pinewood derby

carving the car in my parents' woodshop
Since Elliott is in scouts now, he got to be in the pinewood derby this year!
He was very excited and made sure that Adam couldn't rest until he helped him finish the car.
Adam eventually bought a book entitled, "Speed Secrets of the Pinewood Derby,"
since, "we'll be doing this for the rest of our lives."
Adam's exact words.
I wonder how many hours he put in...

His car turned out just like he wanted it.

E's car in the front
And he won 5 heats and took 2nd in one.

Between races, Adam would put more graphite on the wheels.
A couple dads also borrowed the graphite between heats- so funny.

Grammy and Grandpa even came to watch- I forgot to get a pic!
Linc and his Grandpa, making the same face.

Elliott got to count down and push the start button twice.
Glad these two got to work on a project together.
Elliott took 2nd to Drew, who built his own car and which had fallen apart that morning.
His parents helped him fix it but told us they were sure it would fall apart and not be able to race
--instead it won everyone!
I guess you never know.

Elliott was proud of his car and 2nd place and can't wait to display it in his room.

ollie sings!

Ollie's class has been practicing for this program for the whole school year.
He was very excited to finally perform it, although, he feigned stomach pains instead of wanting to have a speaking part. His teacher switched his part to someone else a month ago when we finally found out why his belly hurt. :)

I was just excited that he was going to sing and do actions since at the Christmas program he held very s t i l l.

I put a few extra pictures in just to show Ollie's personality at 6 years old- so sweet and silly and LOVES his friends.

Ollie, Dawson, Beau and Weston
Some of his best buddies from kindergarten.
These are the boys that played football every day at recess.
And probably the reason Ollie insisted on wearing soccer cleats to school every so often.
(Is that even legal?)
And wanted me to buy him a rubber mouth guard- say whaaat?
Ollie bugging Izzie.
Who is this guy? Lounging like he's watching tv or something! Ha!
We were able to get front row seats right in front of Ollie- so fun.
Hooray for actions!

More lounging mid-program while Principal Beckstrand sings the first part of the song.

Mrs. Baird and her class- I cut out most of her morning class...
Great job Ollie!

errands with Linc

Linc is my little errand helper.
He is really such a good boy,  helping at the store and telling me stories along the way.
And lots of questions.
What are you doing mom? Where are we going? Why? What is that guy doing?

He has come a long way from running like mad the second I let go of his hand in a store,
although he still likes to hide sometimes...

The other day we drove by the Jordan River Temple,
so we decided to have a little snack (reese's peanut butter cup) and look around the beautiful grounds.

This is where I went as a kid to do baptisms, and where I took my endowments out.
It is a special place to me.

When we got out of the car this nice man in a suit said,
"Well hello there young man. Are you coming to see the temple?"
Linc said, "Yep."
The man said, "Welcome." and then got in his car and drove away.
The sign on his parking spot said, "Reserved for temple president."

Linc gets excited when he sees the many temples around our valley.
I love it.
And hearing him say "Angel Morooni" is the best.

So glad I can be with him and the rest of my family forever!
