me?

(Elliott on the frozen Utah Lake)

Christmas break came and went. It was Saturday, and my plan to go on a date (read: no kids) sometime during that time with the hubster never happened.  (Sick kids the ENTIRE time.) So I put the baby for his nap, Adam was busy prepping his lesson for church, the boys were entranced with the wii, so I kindly excused myself to "run some errands." This doesn't happen very often. But maybe it should?

First stop: Kneaders. All the boys in my family would rather have something else, and I can only make my sister go so many times... so I went to my favorite lunch place on the planet. I ordered and the guy asked if it was to go. I told him, nope, I'll eat it here and asked if it was weird if I ate alone. He said that's what he does everyday. So I ate my turkey sandwich on wheat (and you better believe I had a mint brownie) while I read my magazine... by myself. I was actually sad to finish my food.

Next stop: return some things at Target, another of my favorite places on the planet. Why? I can't ever explain it, but I even like their seasonal decorations they hang in the entry, not to mention their clothes, shoes, snacks, dollar section, etc. I made the return and thought I'd check out the Christmas sales- cute wrapping paper for 62 cents? Yes please! And I decided to switch to LED lights next year, and they were 75% off!! Yay!  I never go there without whiny kids, so it was HEAVENLY. I might have spent some time at Target. :)

The drive home was glorious! GLORIOUS I tell you!! It was so bright and beautiful out, lots of clean snow and blue skies. I was listening to Jonsi, loud in my car, instead of a movie for the kiddies. (If you haven't heard of Jonsi, look him up on youtube!) I wanted to go run a race or something- I felt like a renewed mommy and wifey! All it took was a couple of (sacred) hours by myself!

When I got home, the crew was doing pretty much the same as when I left them, but Linc was awake. I loaded the boys in the car (so Adam could finish his lesson) and took them on a drive to the lake so they could see the beauty of the day. You can see more pics on SPOL adventure. It was beautiful.

Yep- definitely need a little "me" time more often. (I'm so easy to please.)

P.S. Adam kindly uploaded some Jonsi for your listening pleasure...

You are so lucky! I love those times. They don't come by very often but when they do... you have to take advantage! I didn't the other day and I think I should have! next time!

Your day sounds heavenly! Good for you for eating by yourself....I have never done that, but I think you have inspired me to try it!! :) How nice to not have to share your food or worry about kids crawling under the table....and a Target trip WITHOUT visiting the toy section sounds even better!! :) Thanks for the inspiration....I know what I am gonna do the next time I need some "me time"!! :)

Ahhhh. I just inhaled a little of your serenity. I think all of us mommies, stay at home and working alike need a little time to ourselves. Isn't it wonderful how a few of those moments make us better people? *sigh* Sooooo glad you were able to frolick alone for a moment or two!
