Elliott's Tattoo

Adam went to  St. George last week for work and found a little tiny lizard for the boys. To tell you the truth, we weren't expecting it to live too long- but it keeps hanging in there. It is so little and fun to hold and Elliott loves to let it crawl on his shirt.... So we were keeping it in a jar and decided it needed a better place to live. We went to the pet store and $50 later (this includes the house, a heat light, a water bowl thingy, some live crickets and some special "authentic" red sand that Adam was sure we needed, even though it cost $10!!! I need to get into that business- go to the vast desert, package little bags of sand and sell it for big money!!!!) it has a new home. No names yet, although I think Liz Lemon fits nicely (Get it? Liz the Lizard?) and Elliott's ideas are Pokey Eyeball and Apple-Banana Head. If anyone has ideas on lizards, what they eat, how warm they should be, please let us know so we can keep him healthy!

10 bucks for sand? Sheesh..Just dont put the lizard near the window. We had a lizard once that we kept there and one day we came home and the poor thing had fried to a crisp!

You might be able to ask the pet store what a anole eats. I don't think that is what he is but he looks about the same size. You might be able to find something on the web. It looks like the boys are really interested in him.

i stumbled on your site way back when I was looking at another friend's blog (Jessie Spencer) a few months back. I thought your name was pretty cool. Anywho, you have a fabulous family. Great shots of the kiddos and I love the photography links. I go to them now and then. thanks for sharing!

We have a gecko and when it was that small the pet store said it needed to be about 70' which is probably what your house is. Mealworms are easier than crickets. Plus you dont have to feed meal worms they last a ton longer and you can get like 50 for 5.00 bucks. Keep in a container in your fridge and give the lizard one a day. You can buy them at any pet store. Crickets dont live very long and you have to feed them. Make sure it has water too.

I remember when Adam had a lizard when we were little. It got lost and we found it years later when we moved..dead under the washing machine. :(

We had lots of fun with that lizard. That sand does look pretty cool. How fun!

I think the red sand really makes the cage pop! That is the only thing designers ever say on HGTV, so I say it to sound really professional. The picture on the side of your blog with your boys together is painfully cute!! I love it!

We have lizards in our house everyday. Of course, we don't like it because they are everywhere down here. So Carter catches them and throws them back outside. Sometimes he grabs them by the tail and the tail comes off. Gross!! Boys are so into creatures aren't they?? Take the sand back and ask my parents to bring some red sand to the family reunion! Are you guys going?
